As a kid, some of my favourite memories of the holidays involved making treats with my Mom. She was always in a festive apron. I snacked away on all of the ingredients. I still remember the sound of her rolling pin the first time I got to use it. Making those memories with Bea (and one day Marigold) has been so special for me. That’s why I’m really excited to partner with Kellogg’s* Rice Krispies* this holiday season, because I truly believe the best memories are rooted in the simple things.

He said to me that he wanted to commit to doing one good thing for someone every single day. He made good on that deal and I’ve watched him find new ways to show kindness, support and offer a helping hand.
Read MoreWe’re still living up north at our cottage and at least once a week we marvel at how long we’ve been here. Other than a few trips to Toronto for doctor appointments we’ve been here full-time since March. And for now, the plan is to stay. The COVID-19 case numbers are on the rise and this is where we feel the most comfortable right now. Like everyone, being away from our friends and extended family hasn’t been easy, but we have truly enjoyed this time together and are trying to focus on drinking in these moments.
Read MoreI know you could be thinking (in your best Miranda Priestly tone) “Pumpkin muffins? For fall? Groundbreaking.” But trust me when I say this muffin is the stuff that dreams are made of. My Ma has been making a version of this muffin for as long as I can remember. Her OG recipe came from a well-loved book called “Muffin Mania.” I took the recipe and played around with it a bit to make it healthier and Oh My Pumpkin these are so good!! I pulled back the sugar and oil, added some different layers of flavours and the result is my family’s new favourite Sunday morning snack.
Read MoreWhen Marigold was a newborn she was (and still is) such a dream of a baby. Super easy going, happy, not fussy at all and loved to snooze. I googled incessantly about newborn sleep worried she was getting too much. I called her doctor to ask if this much sleep was “normal” and for the first little while, I had to wake her every few hours to feed her. That’s how often she was out cold.
Read MoreI started to write this post when Marigold was an actual newborn, hoping to share it with you when we were actually living that new baby life. Then, a pandemic + 2 kids at home + husband working from home + distance learning + no outside support and here I am with a baby that is half a year old sharing my newborn essentials!
Read MoreLike most kids, the idea of a new baby and of being a big sister was very exciting for Bea. Months of talking, counting down, deciding what she’d call her (Bumbalina) getting things ready and reading books had her pretty pumped for this new role. And then she met Marigold for the first time. Goodbye, excitement. Hello, resentment.
Read MoreMarigold James Graham was born January 5 at 9:06 PM. I was there of course, and my father who had driven with me to the hospital was in the waiting room. My mother who had just put Beatrix to bed had arrived just in time. And my girlfriend Claudia was there too. But my husband, he wasn't there. He was fifteen floors below me in the emergency room.

Read MoreMarigold James Graham, January 5, 2020. 7lbs of magic. I knew this was her name the second we found out we were having another girl. We continued to play what Randall called “The Name Game” because it’s fun, but we always came back to Marigold. I have long loved it and it has special meaning.
Read MoreAfter we had Bea, Randall had to make two trips to the car before coming back for the baby and I. That is how much stuff we brought with us – about 50lbs worth. We packed for one night in the hospital like we were going on a weeklong trip overseas, in various climates, under every possible circumstance.
It. Was. Absurd.

Read MoreRANDALL: My earliest memory is driving a car through a pitch-black forest as a 1 year old. You might doubt that on many levels, fore-mostly that my tiny baby arms would be strong enough to operate a steering wheel but also you would question my ability to recall such an early memory. But I know for certainty that it was true. And here’s how.
Read MoreI’m sure it will come as no surprise that I LOVE traditions, especially around the holidays. There are certain things I only enjoy at this time of year, and that makes them all the more special in my opinion. Festive classics that take me back to my childhood and bring up all kinds of wonderful memories of holiday parties with family and friends and of course, helping out in the kitchen with my Ma.
Read MoreIt’s really starting to hit me that not only is this baby coming soon, but that I’m going to be leaving my job (a job I love, with people I love working with) for a while. We take a 2-week break at the holidays, so as of Monday the 4 weeks left of work countdown is on, and I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t feeling anxious about it. Not about leaving my job for a while, but about being at home.

We’ve been so busy with Bea and work and life that I feel like I’ve barely any time to focus on this pregnancy. In fact I feel like I just told you all that I was pregnant about a month ago, and here I am, in the single-digit week countdown.

I love hot sauce.
I love eating it, making it and talking about it. Like scary movies or roller coasters hot sauce is an acquired taste that I find fascinating. And here’s why…
Read MoreHere’s a fun fact: Randall and I always believed we would only have one child and after we had Beatrix we were certain we were “one and done.” (Cleary, we’ve since changed our minds). We gave away all our baby stuff and that included me passing on my maternity clothes to my pregnant girlfriends. So, I started from scratch with this pregnancy.
Read MoreIt’s been 5 months since my first B&B and with all the changes going on in her little life along with so many of you kindly reaching out to see how she’s adjusting, I thought it was time for an update! If you’ve followed my insta stories, you know that Bea started pre-school last month. She’s been at home until now and we would have kept her home until Jr. Kindergarten next year, but with her amazing Nanny (The Bea Keeper) going back to school in B.C. and with the new baby coming, we thought now would be a good time to get Bea assimilated to school life.
