Maintaining My Summer Glow and Hydrating the Bump
I refuse to use the F word just yet. It’s still summer, and I plan to live my best beachy/lake life for as long as the temps allow. I have thoroughly enjoyed this summer. Bea time, down time, reading, swimming, naps and all the snacks. If the weather was nice, we were outside. ALWAYS with major SPF on, but I can’t lie, I love the look of a healthy glow. I will never bake in the sun again like I did as an uneducated teen/twenty something because I now know how easy it is to achieve or maintain that glow with some beautiful, won’t-cause-premature-aging, products!
Face:
Before I use any kind of self-tanning product I always start with a good exfoliation. Right now I love Korres Wild Rose Exfoliating Cleanser. It smells like a dream and leaves my skin so soft. Most often I self-tan at night so that it develops as I sleep. The Overnight Bronze & Glow Mask from Charlotte Tilbury is a one-step tanning and hydrating mask. After cleansing and exfoliating, I smooth it all over my face, getting right up to my hairline making sure I bring it down my neck as well. Sometimes I’ll add a little extra night-time moisturizer on top a few hours later if I’m feeling my skin needs more hydration. In these gorgeously warm months, I love this light but powerful moisturizer by Veriphy.
When I want a touch of extra glow, or if I’m not quite ready for another round of self-tanner on the face, this Glam Glow Mega Illuminating Moisturizer is my fave. It’s a really hydrating moisturizer with just the right amount of bronze. It’s perfect on its own for a fresh glowy face, or if I want a touch more coverage I mix it with my beloved Charlotte Tilbury Light Wonder (I wear a mix between shades 4 & 5)
Nothing compliments a healthy, bronzed look than a simple nude or light pink lip. It really is such a fresh and youthful look. These 2 MAC Cremesheen Gass in Boy Bait and Fashion Scoop have been my go-to lip for years. I have tried dozens of similar nude/baby pink glosses and I always come back to these two. I keep at least one in all my purses, in the car and on my desk.
Body:
I know I’ve mentioned this product in a previous post, but I honestly can’t say enough good things about it. This holy grail product came on the recommendation of a girlfriend of mine who used to be a beauty editor at a magazine. It’s safe to say I’m obsessed. Get the Isle of Paradise Self Tanning Drops and thank me later. I have used this all summer long all over my body and it’s given me the most perfect tan. Not or orange or oopma-loompa-ish like I was always worried any kind of self-tanning product would make me look.
I mix 3-4 drops into my body moisturizer after I get out of the shower. Right now I’m using Love, Beauty, Planet Murumuru Butter and Rose on my legs/arms/chest/back and I find it’s just right amount of hydration for the warmer, stickier months and I also love the scent.
WI love most about this product is I’ve never had any streaks or noticed any gross self-tanner smell. I’ve mentioned before this product can be used all over the body, including the face and I do that sometimes as well if I’m looking to switch up the facial regime above. Again, I use it at night, mix it into my night-time moisturizer and I wake up looking like I’ve been on a European holiday.
Let’s Talk Bump!
Not needing to be bronzed necessarily, but still needing some extra love – my bump! If you’ve ever been or are currently pregnant, you know the itch is real. The skin stretching to accommodate the human you’re growing needs some major moisture and the only thing that I found hydrated well was The Body Shop Body Butter. I use it in the morning after I get out of the shower and again at night before bed to make sure I’m not scratching in my sleep. I also mix in a few drops of Bio Oil as I did with my first pregnancy. I read that it helps prevent stretch-marks so I figured, why not? And I didn’t end up with any the first time so I’m going to repeat what I did again this time!
So there you have it, my bump regime and a few easy ways to extend that summer glow without getting into tanned-mom territory.
Big Love,
Danielle
